City of Butler, Indiana – GIS/IT Coordinator

Our friend and long-time IGIC Member Jim Otis will be retiring as GIS/IT Coordinator for the City of Butler in 2018.


Jim is helping hire his successor in the first quarter of 2018, and plans to work with them for several months to ease the transition.  Butler is a small city with a population of less than 3,000, but Butler’s GIS partners with all city departments. The successful applicant will become an integral part of all aspects of city government.

This is a great job opportunity for the right candidate who is proficient in the ArcGIS family of software to administer, create, modify and maintain GIS data in an enterprise geodatabase whose focus is primarily asset management (Cityworks). All GIS products are delivered via ArcGIS for Server or ArcGIS Online . The ability to work well with a variety of individuals and to communicate GIS concepts to non-GIS personnel is essential.
