To support and provide guidance for ongoing development of the IndianaMap portal and data store, IGIC's plan is to change the IndianaMap Committee to the IndianaMap Steering Committee. The Steering Committee will be made up of the chairs of the different IndianaMap workgroups as well as a cross section of IGIC Board members and other partner organizations. The focus will be to provide direction for the IndianaMap portal and the data distribution services that are currently provided through Indiana University and the Indiana Geological Survey (IGS). To date the Indiana Department of Transportation has been the biggest financial provider to the portal, along with University Information Technology Services at Indiana University.
At the April IGIC Board meeting, it was suggested that the committee also include representatives from the forest service, legislative services, utilities, engineers, economic development and a wide range of other possible resources. The Committee will be revising the plan and asking for input. The decision to refocus will be reviewed with a possible vote at the next IGIC Board meeting.
IGS is currently working on standing up a ArcGIS Server test environment for the IndianaMap portal. Once complete, the test server will allow IGS to start work on testing/porting/redesign of the current interactive ArcIMS online map.
