UITS Data Center Tour

Monday 3:00-4:00 pm, IU Innovation Center
Thanks to Anna Radue of UITS, conference attendees can tour IU's new Data Center. This 82,700-square-foot, $32.7 million facility is a low-profile, single-story bunkered building designed to protect the University’s critical computers - like Big Red and Quarry - and networking equipment. Three 11,000-square-foot machine rooms house IU’s supercomputers, massive data storage systems, and thousands of virtual servers - and can withstand an F5 tornado!

Bring a GPS and a flashlight if you have one! There will be units to share if you don’t. This event is open to everyone, enthusiasts and the curious. There will be an introduction to geocaching as well for those who need it, and the actual meetup at 6:30 in the Convention Center will count as an event cache on geocaching.com. If you have family visiting Bloomington with you, please bring them along. Stop by the Geocaching Club table in the Exhibit Hall for the exact meeting point and time.

Birds-of-a-Feather Breakfast

Wednesday 7:00-8:30 am
Based on the success of IGIC's County & City/Towns breakout sessions held at the 2009 Local Government GIS Coordinators Forum, we are planning a similar event at the conference. Three concurrent Birds-of-a -Feather breakout sessions will be held during the Wednesday morning breakfast session from 7:00 to 8:30 am for County Government, City & Town Government, and Higher Education. To ensure that everyone can speak freely and openly, only people from each sector may attend that sector's meeting. More...
