The Indiana Geographic Information Council’s (IGIC’s) Excellence in GIS awards recognize organizations for their use of GIS technology to improve our world.  Winners were announced at IGIC’s 2017 Annual Indiana GIS Conference at our Awards Lunch Ceremony on Wednesday, May 10, 2017.  This year six awards were given out for the following categories:

1. Large Community (City population over 50,000)

2. Small Community (Town population under 50,000)

3. County Government

4. Educational and Nonprofit

5. State or Federal Agency

6. Special Achievement in GIS

Nominations are submitted by IGIC Members, but the nominees do not need to be IGIC members to win.

IGIC would like to congratulate, thank, and recognize all of the GIS projects and people nominated this year.  We understand and appreciate all the hard work that goes into each project.  This year we had 11 nominations, and all of the nominated projects are excellent examples of best practices in GIS.  Following are the award winners and runners up for 2017:
