ISJ2Levees and non-levee embankments effects on stream storage capacity and increased downstream flooding is an important issue for all Indiana communities.  Using a grant from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, the Indiana Silver Jackets put together a project research team to focus on this initiative.

So far, the State has collected data on non-levee embankments for 82 of Indiana’s 92 counties.  This project was made possible by an existing Statewide LiDAR dataset, combined with access to a high-speed supercomputer at Indiana.

This project was recently chosen by FEMA to be included in their new Cooperating Technical Partners program [link], Best Practices series.  Here is the write up that will be shared – [link]
