Provide a leadership role for existing Utility Documentation Technician to give direction, coordinate and maintain multiple campus GIS utility maps and data, associated relational databases and related interactive mapping applications for all IU campuses except IUPUI.
Collaborate with Utility Meter Analyst to design, develop and maintain utility networking applications, including leak detection, power loss, utilities distribution and metering information presented in an electronic, real-time presentation environment. Conduct utility analysis, develop conversion strategies, and apply topology. Utilize raster- and vector-based GIS models. Coordinate and manage the maintenance and production of utility maps in GIS and CAD. Design, query and produce custom utility maps as requested for all IU campuses except IUPUI.
Design and manage LIDAR data integration for the IUB campus from the purchase of software for extraction of base map and utility information to the training necessary to complete those tasks, as well as management of the existing data and developing a process of aggregating information from multiple sources into a single-source multi-level GIS platform.

Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in geography, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), computer science or a related field. Combinations of related education and experience will be considered.
Two (2) years’ experience using GIS software and technology. Preference for work in a utilities environment preferred.
Should have a thorough comprehension of parametric object-based modeling and geospatial analysis/mapping. Must have software expertise in the following applications: Microsoft Office 2010 or higher (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) Relational Database such as Microsoft SQL Server, Access ESRI ArcGIS 10.2 or higher Autodesk AutoCAD 2014 or higher (preferred) Adobe Acrobat Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator/Photoshop) LIDAR feature extraction and identification software (preferred). Valid Indiana driver’s license with acceptable driving record in order to be insurable by Indiana University.
