This seminar will introduce the basic concepts of remote sensing and show how image processing can be used to augment yourgeospatial analysis. It will cover the basic science of remote sensing, discuss sensor resolutions (spatial, spectral and temporal), explore different data types and learn about automated ways to extract information from imagery. Pixel- and object-based image classification methods will be introduced and demonstrated using local Indiana data sets. We will also discuss how image processing workflows can be integrated into database development and spatial analysis routines you carry out in ArcGIS.
