If you attended the UC, would you be willing to share what you learned about ArcGIS Pro? Especially since Pro 3.0 came out.

Thanks for joining the meeting today! Here are the topics we discussed today:
  • New at ArcGIS Pro 3.0:
    • The Start Page has been updated. There now is a search box to find projects. You can also right-click on a project in the list to remove it from the list, clear the list, and open the project location in File Explorer
    • In the Settings, under Package Manager, you can manage your Python environments and update specific libraries.
    • You can now create export presets for maps and layouts.
    • There is a new Vision Simulator in the View tab that allows you to see a map based on color blindness. This is supported in both 2d and 3d.
    • There is a new tool to create streams from a DEM. This combines a number of tools that in the past we had to run one by one.
    • When geocoding using ArcGIS Online, you can now get a credit estimate.
    • In Catalog, you can now right-click on a feature class to get the full path of that feature class.
  • We looked at the Task functionality and what it can do.

In terms of using Pro, you will need to update your .NET Runtime to 6.0.5. You can find the installer at https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/thank-you/runtime-desktop-6.0.6-windows-x64-installer.

One participant asked whether there is a way to see if a feature service has a definition query. We could not determine this, but Cultivate Geospatial has developed a free tool that may help managing feature and map services. It is available at https://github.com/CultivateGeospatial/CGS_GIS_Utilities.

I suggested the creation of an ArcGIS Online support group and it sounds like most people like that idea. I'm looking for volunteers to lead that group. Please let me know if you'd be interested! Effort is probably 2 hours per meeting (1 for prep, 1 for the actual meeting), with meetings every 2 or 3 months. I'd be happy to help at the beginning.

Next ArcGIS Pro Support Group meeting will be on Tuesday October 14 from 2 to 3PM ET. See you then!
