Hi everyone,

I just realized that our next meeting wasn't in the IGIC calendar. As a result I'm re-scheduling it to June 8 from 2:30 to 3:30pm. I hope that works for all of you.

My apologies for the last minute change!

Great meeting yesterday! Thanks to everyone who joined the call. Here are some highlights of what we discussed:
  • Keyboard shortcuts: there's a full list available from https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/2.8/get-started/arcgis-pro-keyboard-shortcuts.htm, but are some highlights:
    • CTRL-Double-click layer: opens the attribute table
    • Select layers in TOC and space bar: turns layers on/off
    • Press N in the map and it will bring North back up
    • Press A or D in the map and it will rotate counterclockwise (A) or clockwise (D)
  • To add a map service to the map, click on the bottom part of the Add Data tool and select "Data From Path". Paste the URL of the map or feature service.
  • To determine the URL of a map or feature service, from the Layer List of the online map, click on the "..." and select Description or Show Properties. If it's Description, the URL of that page is what you need to add that layer to your ArcGIS Pro map. If it's Show Properties, scroll down until you see the URL listed.
  • To add a connection to a database, in Catalog, right-click on "Databases" and select "New Database Connection". That allows you to interact with data in SQL Server for example, both by adding data to the project but also exporting data to a SQL Server table.
  • To add data from a database, click on the bottom part of the Add Data tool and select "Query Layer".
  • To request new ideas for Esri software, or to vote on others' ideas, go to https://ideas.arcgis.com/.

I know I'm forgetting tips & tricks, so if you can recall what they are, please add them to the list. See you in August!

My co-worker Kelly and I figured out how to keep a new traverse selected after it has been created. Normally, the new polygon is deselected. However, if you choose the following setting in Options, you can keep the newly created polygon selected. Open the Options dialog box > go to the Selection tab > scroll down and check the box for the option "Keep invisible features selected with a new selection."
