Student Project Contest

The GIS Student Project Contest provides an excellent forum for GIS students to present their work to the Indiana GIS community.

This year’s contest had two categories. Congratulations to our winners:

  • Interactive Visualization Contest
    • First Place: Ben Burke, Tate Hensley and Camden Greer (Vincennes University)
  • Static Poster Contest
    • First Place: Ishan Parekh (Valparaiso University)
    • Second Place: Sitong (Suzy) Chen (Purdue University)

With a CASH PRIZE for each contest:

  • 1st Place -$150
  • 2nd Place -$100

Judging Criteria for each category

  • Project overview: Is it clear why this project was done, and how it was conducted?
  • Project results: Do the findings/final product address the goals stated in the project overview? Are the outcomes sound and communicated clearly?
  • Design: Is the project well organized? Are the visualizations effective at communicating the author’s message?

All current undergraduates and graduate students from any university within Indiana are eligible to join the contest. Students must be members of IGIC (only $5 to join as a student).

Please submit digital files or project links to [email protected] by May 13th and please put "Student Project Contest" in the subject line.

You do not need to be present to win, but if you would like to attend the conference, Student registration is only $100, or it's FREE if you work as a Student Volunteer. Contact IGIC about being a Student Volunteer at [email protected].
