Thank you everyone for joining the meeting today! Steve Aldrich, from the IGIO, demoed how to create orthoimagery from drone images within ArcGIS Pro. One of the questions that came up today was whether there were any best practices for data, map, and layout management within Pro. No one had any documented best practices, but the following were mentioned:
- Name your layouts the same as your maps, adding the word "Layout" (for example, to the layout name.
- Especially in case of complex maps or many maps/layout, make it a standard operating procedure to close all of your maps, layouts, and scenes prior to exiting ArcGIS Pro. This will make opening the project much faster.
- Depending on your use cases, determine whether to use the project's geodatabase to store data or keep the data separate from your project.
One of the tools demoed today included ArcGIS Pro's Update Data Sources. This tool allows you to quickly change or fix broken paths throughout your project. For more information, see https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/projects/update-data-sources.htm. |
